Title: 504 Coordinator MN Virtual School
1.0 FTE, 196 days
Description:
This is a professional non-instructional coordinating position supporting the school's academic programs. This position requires considerable contact with students, families and teachers for education planning and programming. This position entails direct work with students' educational services, including by not limited to academic progress, attendance, truancy, student support systems (504 Plan, individualized student improvement plans, and coordination of services). They must also have knowledge of the guidelines and legal requirements of formal educational structures that can be implemented to support student success (such as but not limited to: 504 Plans, individualized student improvement plans, and service coordination).
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain advising confidential student records.
- Utilize school information systems.
- Serve on appropriate department and school committees, as directed.
- Identify and interpret student needs and provide individualized service, as well as dealing with students who may be struggling academically, and/or need additional support for school participation and attendance.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, families, and students.
- Provide professional development and guidance for the implementation of student services.
- Coordinates student support systems and services.
- Work to position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate periods of time while preparing them to meet future goals.
- Oversee the educational programming and implementation of plans for specific special populations of students within scope of responsibility, such as new or transfer students, students on academic probation / struggling with attendance, and students under 504 law.
Requirements: To become an entry-level 504 Coordinator, you need a bachelor's degree in counseling, education, or a related area, and a minimum of one year of experience in an advising or related academic student support position within a K-12 school district.
Salaried position; $50,000-$60,000 depending on qualifications including licensure
