Qualifications:
Responsible for oversight of the entire 7-12 program.
Strong knowledge of softball techniques and performances.
Thorough understanding of NFHS and MSHSL softball rules.
Availability to work days, nights, and weekends during the sport season.
Prepare successful practice, strength/conditioning, and game/competition plans.
Organizes and operates summer skills and competitions for continued student development.
Provide leadership, guidance, and evaluation for assistant coaches.
Encourage participation and establish rapport with students.
Motivate participants/athletes to achieve maximum potential in and out of the activity.
Cooperates with other WHA coaches to share athletes and provide priority to in-season activities over offseason training.
Maintains accurate current inventory and proper use of equipment and uniforms.
Adhere to program budget guidelines and district purchasing procedures.
Supervise all areas of participation including but not limited to: gyms, fields, arenas, locker or dressing rooms, buses, etc.
Ensures facilities are properly cleaned up and organized following any program events.
Work collaboratively with staff, Activities Director, families and community resources.
Communicates with local and regional media to promote WHA programs.
Maintains compliance with all rules and regulations of the MSHSL.
Complies with and supports all school district regulations and policies.
Actively monitors and guides student academic progress.
Schedules and conducts a preseason student/parent information meeting.
Develops a program specific handbook which includes a student/parent/coach contract agreement.
Collaborates with booster club to organize and oversee youth skills programs and camps, conduct fundraisers, and coordinate annual youth tournaments at WHA.
Attends all WHA coaches meetings.
Attends all conference meetings related to the sport/activity.
Meets with Activities Director before and after each season to evaluate the program.
Collaborates with Activities Director to design challenging schedules for upcoming seasons.
Schedules postseason celebration and orders team awards.
- Coaching licensure/minor or Minnesota Head Coaches Certification required
- High school or collegiate coaching experience required
- Varsity head coaching experience preferred
