Job Description
Breckenridge Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered CTE - Business Education Teacher to join our High School team beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. Under the general supervision of the High School Principal, the ideal candidate will inspire students to develop essential business knowledge and real-world skills, including digital tools, bookkeeping, accounting principles, business communications, marketing concepts, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
We are looking for an educator who will prepare students for the ever-evolving business world, foster innovative thinking, provide opportunities for hands-on learning, and help students build habits that contribute to lifelong success. Current classes include: Personal Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Computer Apps, Coding, Graphic Design and Work Internship.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver a rigorous, engaging Business Education curriculum aligned to district goals and industry best practices.
Create relevant, real-world learning experiences and project-based opportunities for students.
Lead or support experiential learning opportunities such as managing a school store, facilitating entrepreneurship activities, supervising work-based internships, and leading our DECA organization.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the needs of diverse learners and incorporate technology meaningfully.
Stay current with trends in business and education by participating in professional development, networking with local business leaders, and incorporating new ideas into instruction.
Build strong relationships with students and encourage them to think critically, creatively, and independently.
Maintain ongoing communication with families to support student learning and encourage involvement.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments and participate in faculty meetings, PLCs, and district committees.
Support students in developing workplace readiness skills, financial responsibility, and an understanding of how business impacts their daily lives and future career paths.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of current teaching methods and instructional strategies, including differentiation based on student needs.
Ability to engage with local businesses and entrepreneurs to create meaningful learning experiences and partnerships.
Ability to establish positive, appropriate, and supportive relationships with students.
Strong communication skills for working effectively with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
Commitment to reflective practice, continuous improvement, and ongoing professional growth.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-centered environment.
Demonstrated growth mindset and enthusiasm for innovation in Business Education.
Qualifications:
Current Minnesota teaching license in CTE/ Business preferred but ALL applications will be considered including community experts OR any MN teaching license with the understanding of needing to apply for out-of-field permission. A Work-based Learning endorsement or ability to obtain one is preferred.
