Head Start currently has an opening for a full-time Health Professional in our main office in Virginia. Starting wage: $21.12/hour. Health Professional 2017-HS-050 Manages the health, safety, and nutrition (HSN) requirements in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards Duties and Responsibilities: &#8226; Maintains compliance with federal Head Start Performance Standards and Minnesota Departments of Human Services (Child Care Licensing), Health (Immunization compliance), and Education (Child and Adult Care Food Program) &#8226; Recruits and supervises a registered dietician to act as the Head Start Nutrition Consultant &#8226; Administers the fluoride varnish program and recruits and supervises person to provide fluoride varnish services to children birth to age five (5) enrolled in Head Start &#8226; Monitors compliance with HSN standards through visits to all classroom sites, including collection of Safety Screener information and report for annual AEOA Board approval &#8226; Conducts and organizes HSN training for staff, including Mandated Reporting of Abuse/Neglect; First Aid/CPR; Blood Borne Pathogens; Administration of Medications; Emergency Preparedness &#8226; Maintains child health records current according to state and federal guidelines &#8226; Creates and maintains individual health plans (IHP) for all children requiring an IHP &#8226; Participates in case management, as needed, to assess needs and make referrals and recommendations to parents and staff &#8226; Plans, organizes, and oversees Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meetings, including reviewing and updating HSN Policies & Procedures &#8226; Participates in program self-assessment, strategic planning, and community needs assessment &#8226; Is a member of the Inter-disciplinary Team &#8226; Represents Head Start on inter-agency boards and committees Qualifications: &#8226; Bachelor&#8217;s degree in nursing with public health certification &#8226; Experience in public nursing, community health, school nursing, or child care consulting &#8226; Computer/technology skills Needed Attributes: &#8226; Awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of Head Start children and families from all social, cultural, and economic backgrounds &#8226; Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with all members of the Inter-disciplinary Team &#8226; Excellent public speaking, writing, and personal communication skills &#8226; Understands the latest research in the fields of health, nutrition, and safety Full-time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week "Community Action ~ Helping People ~ Changing Lives" [http://www.aeoa.org/images/Careers/small.png] AEOA is celebrating 50 Years of Service!
