Job Description The Office Assistant is responsible for joining a powerful vision of supporting student achievement through effective operations. The Operations Team exists to support key stakeholders in the pursuit of educational excellence by providing direct support and facilitating relationships that bridge home and school. The Office Assistant is part of a team that creates and maintains systems that allow staff to focus on excellent academic program; they would directly impact the Hiawatha mission each day on the job. The Office Assistant will work under the guidance of the Director of Operations and will support classroom teachers and school leaders in the delivery of strong academic programming to scholars. The Office Assistant supports the Operations team - specifically the Office Manager, Transportation Coordinator, and Director of Operations - to carry out essential tasks and responsibilities in the operations of a high-performing school. Hiawatha Employment Logistics

·         Hiawatha College Prep students’ school day is from 8:40am-4:15pm, Monday-Thursday and 8:40am-2:30pm on Friday.

·         Teachers must be present from 8:15am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

·         The Office Assistant role will be expected to work from 7:45pm-4pm daily.

·         All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in all Family Events (conferences, academic fairs, beginning of year overnight trip, etc.) at the school.

 

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• High School degree

• Fluency in English and Spanish - oral and written

• General knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Excellent customer service skills

 

Highly Preferred:

• Bachelor’s preferred

• Experience working in a fast-paced office environment

• Experience working in a high-need k-12 school setting

• Experience working with students of color or students growing up in low-income households
