In 2015, Hiawatha Collegiate High School opened its doors to 104 9th grade students. After growing a grade each year, the 18-19 school year it will be home to just over 450 9-12 graders and will graduate Hiawatha&#8217;s first ever class of seniors. At HCHS, all students benefit from a well-rounded program rooted in rigorous academics, comprehensive college support, and meaningful extracurricular activities. HCHS is currently seeking a hard-working, passionate, and goal-oriented educator to join our team as an English Language Development Teacher for the 2018-19 school year. Job Description HCHS English Language and Development teachers will be charged with providing a rigorous, fast-paced, and inspiring learning environment for all students. The ELD program at HCHS focuses both on intensive English courses for students who have recently entered the country and providing in-class supports for students further along in their language development. Hiawatha Employment Logistics

·         Hiawatha Collegiate High School students’ school day is from 8:15am-3:45pm, Monday-Thursday and 8:15am-1:20pm on Friday.

·         Teachers must be present from 7:30am-4:00pm three days each week, and 8:00am-4:20pm two days each week.

·         Professional development sessions are held each Friday from 1:40pm-4:00pm.

·         All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in relevant evening Family Events to be held at the school.

 

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

·         Bachelor’s Degree

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with colleagues, students and families

·         Must have a growth mindset
