Spirit of the Lake Community School is seeking a First Grade Class Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. The ideal candidate will be drawn to a Waldorf impulse that is combined with a place-based education, eager to collaborate with teachers and parents, and will have completed (or have an intent to complete) a Waldorf teacher training program. We welcome candidates who bring enthusiasm for working in a young school in the Upper Midwest. We are a blossoming initiative near the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. Our region offers opportunities for a variety of outdoor adventures and activities. Winter brings skiing, ice fishing and snowshoeing, while hiking, sailing, swimming and camping are a few of the wonderful warmer weather activities in which to engage. Faculty in our four classes are Waldorf-trained or in-training, and our school governance operates on a consensus model. Our community is full of richness and beauty from the natural world, which inspires our daily work as well as our school?s mission and vision. As we grow, we aspire to become AWSNA accredited and to offer a full Waldorf curriculum for early childhood and all eight grades. We offer full tuition remission with this position.
