Position: PATH SPECIALIST School: Career Pathways Description: Purpose: The PATH Specialists work under close supervision of the Executive Director to promote a safe and supportive learning environment. This person will be a member of our PATH Team and will support positive behavior expectations at Career Pathways in classrooms, educational programs, lunchrooms, and other areas as needed. PATH is Career Pathways Positive Behavior Support and Intervention acronym. Professional Appreciative Thoughtful Helpful Responsibilities Support school code of conduct / behavioral expectations through behavioral redirection and other behavioral management strategies Maintain student confidentiality Support student success in the school community Student monitoring during recess and lunch Perform other similar tasks and duties as required Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Meet the Highly Qualified certification requirements (ie. passing score on the ParaPro Exam or 2 year degree/2 year of postsecondary education) Basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics Basic skills in typing and duplicating may be required for some positions Ability to develop good relationships with students, parents and staff Ability to be sensitive to the needs of others Ability to relate to students with warmth, friendliness, and understanding Ability to complete necessary documentation related to job position Ability to work with special educational students Must be on time to your job everyday Preferred Qualifications: Ability to gather, analyze and report data Experience working with middle and high school teens in an urban setting Experience with promoting positive behavioral solutions Current CPI and First Aid Certification Fluent in more than one language About the School: Our Mission: We work to include underserved and disenfranchised students who do not achieve well in traditional settings, but who will flourish in this unique multi-age/multi-graded environment which promotes application of learning.
