Tesfa International School is seeking passionate, dedicated teachers who will provide best-practice instruction to diverse learners. Responsibilities &#8226; Assists in the supervision of learning activities, circulating within the classroom and providing assistance and learning support to students. &#8226; Provides instruction to students as prescribed by the supervising teacher and reinforces skills introduced by the teacher. &#8226; Assists teachers in checking and objectively evaluating students' work &#8226; Works with students individually and in small groups reinforcing skills &#8226; Assists in managing student behavior and maintaining classroom order; reinforces rules of the school and classroom &#8226; Performs a variety of clerical tasks such as typing, copying, stapling, filing, assembling and locating materials, laminating, etc. &#8226; Maintains accurate and complete records of a variety of student information that may require the use of a computer terminal to enter student scores and other student data. &#8226; May be assigned monitoring duties, i.e., hallways, lunchroom, restrooms, recess, and bus duty &#8226; Assists teaching in communicating with parents and families &#8226; Able to follow state and federal law regarding special education students &#8226; Other duties as may be assigned Required Qualifications &#8226; Minimum of two years college education (must meet NCLB paraprofessional standards) &#8226; Excellent verbal and written English communication skills &#8226; Proficient in educational technology &#8226; Ability to work with diverse student populations Preferred Qualifications &#8226; Knowledge of special education or experience working with special education students &#8226; Elementary or special education teaching license preferred &#8226; Experience working with special education students &#8226; Bilingual (Somali or Arabic) Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employed is regularly required to talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach for objects, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and use hands to grasp and feel. The employed must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally being required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
