&#8203; Position Opening: College Prep Elementary is now accepting applications for a Full Time, School Psychologist, for the 2018-19 school year. Qualifications: &#183; Current Minnesota license as a School Psychologist &#183; Minimum of five years working within the field of Special Education preferred Position Description: The School Psychologist will support students&#8217; ability to learn and teachers&#8217; ability to teach by applying expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior. Individuals successful in this role are highly ethical, organized, and exhibit the ability to work independently and within a group structure. The School Psychologist will demonstrate the initiative necessary to improve special education programming for students with special needs with teachers and staff who work with them. CPE School Psychologist duties: &#183; Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff to improve student academic achievement. &#183; Demonstrate excellent communication skills. &#183; Promote positive behavior and mental health; conduct group and individual work to improve student communication and social skills; assess students&#8217; emotional and behavioral needs; provide counseling; reinforce positive coping skills and resilience; and promote positive peer relationships and social problem solving. &#183; Demonstrate knowledge and provide referrals for outside resources available to students, families, and professionals. &#183; Support diverse learners by assessing their needs; provide culturally responsive services to students and families from diverse backgrounds; collaborate on creating appropriate Individualized Education Program (IEP); recommend ways to modify or adapt curricula and instruction; and help adjust classroom facilities and routines to improve student engagement and learning. &#183; Work to create safe and positive school climates by supporting social-emotional learning and helping to implement school-wide behavioral supports. &#183; Strengthen family-school partnerships by helping families understand the special education evaluation and service process and teaching families and students about their child&#8217;s learning and mental health needs. &#183; Improve school-wide assessment and accountability and participate in the MDE monitoring process and file review. &#183; Other job related duties as assigned.
