Division: Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School Title: Substitute teacher Department: Elementary, Middle, High School Reports to: Substitute teacher supervisor Work Site: Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School Salary/Status: $125 per day Purpose: Responsible for fulfilling the duties of the regular classroom teacher during his/her absence Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Reports to the substitute teacher supervisor to pick up keys and receive any special instructions 2. Fulfills the duties of the regular teacher (study hall, lunchroom duty, recess duty, attend assemblies) 3. Records attendance as soon as school starts. Attendance should be kept each class period 4. Corrects workbooks and papers desired by the regular teacher 5. Follows the regular teachers lesson plans as closely as possible, and confers with supervisor when in doubt 6. Becomes acquainted with school routines, evacuation procedures, discipline procedures, and student services 7. Maintains confidentiality of student records, files, and information 8. Leaves the classroom in order 9. Checks with supervisor before leaving the building to see if needed the following day Qualifications: 1. Bachelor of Science degree in education preferred 2. Familiarity with Native American cultural values, traditions, and lifestyles 3. Sensitivity to the unique needs of Native American children and families 4. Flexible, patient, with a good sense of humor 5. High degree of professional ethics
