STEP Academy is so committed to the development of their teachers and staff that every Friday afternoon is reserved for professional development and collaborative work. STEP Academy is a K-12 STEM-focused charter school located in St. Paul, Minnesota dedicated to providing students with the skills and abilities necessary to be prepared for early college entrance. The Dean of Students is in charge of managing the Behavior Reflection Room for students in grades 6-12 within a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. The individual in this role will be responsible for working through behaviors with students, assigning consequences according to the STEP Academy Family Handbook, planning and supporting behavior interventions, communicating with staff and parents, and documenting behavior incidents. In addition, he or she will collaborate with and supervise the Reflection Room/Attendance Assistant. The Dean of Students will be a member of the academic leadership team and in charge of the following leadership duties: managing lunchroom supervisors, planning and executing PBIS reward field trips, serving as PBIS cohort coach, overseeing attendance management, and collecting, maintaining, and reporting behavior data. Preferred Qualifications: 5-12 teaching license, 2+ years of experience with secondary student behavior management. A positive, supportive approach to dealing with student behaviors. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds in an urban environment is a plus.
