Northeast College Prep (NECP) is a charter public school with grades K-7th in 2018-2019 (growing to be a Pre-Kindergarten - 8th grade school ultimately). We offer a rigorous international curriculum to all students (aspiring International Baccalaureate school), all students take both Spanish and Arabic and we intentionally teach social-emotional skills. Additionally, students take Physical Education and Music. Currently, we have 330 students who speak 11 different primary languages at home. Over 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. We are most proud of the calm school culture that we have created and the success students have found here. NECP exists to ensure that all children have access to an education that will help them to maximize their options in life, thereby contributing to a more just society. Northeast College Prep is seeking a team of outstanding educators to help grow the school! Position Overview: For this position, we are seeking outstanding candidates who are interested in substitute teaching at our Kindergarten – 7th grade school. The Building Sub will report to Northeast College Prep every day from 7:15 – 3:45 p.m. On most days, they will substitute teach for a classroom teacher, a specialist teacher or a paraprofessional. They may also substitute for office staff or kitchen staff who are sick. The Building Substitute position is ideal for someone who is flexible and willing to jump in and help out with anything to help the school. If there are no absences, the Building Substitute will observe teachers in the building to best prepare them for when they need to cover their classes and/or support in the library barcoding books and re-shelving returned books to the school library. They will also co-observe at times with an Instructional Leader to help refine their teaching practice. While they are substitute teaching, the Instructional Leader will give them feedback on their teaching skills to improve their practice. This position is ideal for a licensed teacher who is looking to gain experience before taking on their own classroom or for a teacher who loves teaching and wants a schedule that allows them to have weekends and evenings free (this position does not require instructional planning after hours). This position is a full-time position with benefits. The salary range is $32,000 - $37,000. Because the building substitute will be on campus everyday, they will be able to learn the school culture and get to know all of the staff and students. The following year, they will be able to apply for a classroom or specialist teaching position. This position will prepare candidates for a successful teaching career at Northeast College Prep and the Building Substitute is encouraged to apply for open teaching positions.
