Positions begin January 2018 and run through June 2019 Positions available throughout the state Positions require availability, Monday- Friday, during regular school hours Math Enrichment Tutor: Provide math tutoring to improve the skills of 4th-5th grade students at a local public elementary or middle schools. Positions are available at hundreds of schools throughout the state. Training is provided, so no prior tutoring, formal education experience or experience with children is required. Tutors will also receive on-site support from trained school math coaches. Assist 4th-5th grade students with math skills in an elementary or middle school setting, during school hours. Responsibilities: * Serve 6 months at one local public elementary or middle school. * Work with paired groups of students (4th-8th grade) who need extra support with math, for a total of 90 minutes with each pair during the week. * Are trained to use scripted Minnesota Math Corps interventions throughout the day to increase student understanding and skill levels. * Are trained to conduct math assessments and enter the student data into an online system each week, and review the information on a regular basis with their math coach to monitor the progress of each student. Schedule: * Regular, timely attendance during school hours, Monday-Friday, with before and after school hours possibly required. * Attend all required Math Corps sponsored trainings, meetings and coaching sessions; travel as necessary. Salary: Full- time tutors (45 hours/week) earn up to $597 bi-weekly living allowance and up to $2,960 education award to use towards college tuition or student loan payments. Three-quarter time tutors (35 hours/week) earn up to $437 living allowance and up to $2,255 education award. Part-time tutors (25 hours/week) earn up to $298 living allowance and up to $1,566 education award. 3-day/week tutors (18 hours/week - 6 hours/day) earn up to $227 bi-weekly living allowance and up to $1,253 education award. Minimum Qualifications: * Must be 18 years of age or older by January, 2018. * Must have at least a high school diploma or a GED by January, 2018. * Must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. * Must not have served 4 or more terms of service previously with AmeriCorps. * Speak, read and write English fluently. * Interest in education, specifically helping students develop their math skills. * Dedication to community service. * Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate online systems and email. * Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated and professional. * Ability to accept and incorporate constructive feedback from coaches and program staff. * Ability to work with diverse personalities.
