Teacher-in-Residence Role In the 2019-2020 school year, Hiawatha Academies will launch Teacher-in-Residence (TIR) roles at each of its campuses. TIR roles are ideal for teachers with 0-1 years of teaching experience; the role is an opportunity to gain small-group and lead teaching experience under the informal mentorship of a lead teacher and the formal coaching and management of an instructional leader. Across the year, TIRs will gain lead teaching experience by providing short- and long-term teaching coverage for classes across their campuses. The TIR role is a one-year role; participants will assume greater lead teaching responsibilities while progressing towards a lead teacher role. HCP-Northrop core teachers also support their students in Personalized Enrichment Projects (PEP). Teachers collaborate with, instruct, and coach students through project proposals, interest development, and product creation and presentation. Lastly, HCP-Northrop teachers are also founders of the school. Along with the administration, they will lay the strong foundation upon which HCP-Northrop will stand for years to come.
