STEP Academy is seeking Educational Assistants & Special Education Paraprofessionals STEP Academy is a K-12 charter school located in St. Paul, Minnesota. We focus our educational programming on preparing our students for college and giving them the opportunity to experience and discover STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) concepts and skills. Openings: The Classroom Educational Assistant leads small groups of students on academic tasks assigned by the teacher, supports single students one-on-one to increase their understanding of learning targets, monitors and redirects student behavior in supervision situations, and provides general support to the learning environment under licensed staff direction. Candidates will have the ability to provide academic support to students through grade five in all subject areas. The Special Education Paraprofessional provides support to students with academic and behavior disabilities, monitors and redirects student behavior in supervision situations, and provides general support to the learning environment under licensed staff direction. The Supervisory Educational Assistant monitors and redirects student behavior in supervision situations including lunch, recess, and bus drop off and pick up and provides general support to the learning environment under licensed staff direction. A desirable candidate will possess a positive, child-friendly demeanor, be able to independently follow through on responsibilities, be professional and kind, and be proactive in taking on any tasks that will increase the effectiveness of the classroom and school. Preferred Qualifications: Two years (60 credits) of college, an associate&#8217;s degree, or have passed the ParaPro test with a minimum score of 460. Two years of full-time employment working with children. An overall positive and supporting demeanor. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds in an urban setting.
