Our mission is to provide all Minnesota students the opportunity to develop, enhance, and integrate their artistic and academic abilities to their highest potential. We do this by teaching in and through the arts. We teach in our arts high school for juniors and seniors. We also teach through our professional development and research activities. We support teaching art and arts integration through the extensive arts education material in our library. Job Summary The Perpich Arts High School Guidance Counselor is responsible for providing guidance to students and families concerning attendance, enrollment, course registration, academics, scheduling, and college & career opportunities. Provide counseling related to personal, family, and interpersonal situations with students and families. Implement a comprehensive school counseling program to promote and enhance student success. Provide educational, vocational and personal counseling to students and to assist them in post-secondary educational and vocational planning. The incumbent in this position also provides supportive and consultative guidance services to parents and teachers. Adhere to the ethical standards and best practices established by local, state and national counselor associations and the district. Assist students, parents/guardians and teachers in interpreting and understanding student data. Maintain documentation for each student&#8217;s progress to completing their graduation requirements. Coordinate the registration process. Participate in policy development that contributes to the effective operation of the school. Provide crisis intervention. Responsible for coordinating Standardized Achievement Tests (AP testing, PSAT, ACT, and MCA). Perform other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Principal. Minimum Qualifications: * Hold a State of Minnesota Secondary Guidance and/or Counseling licensure. * Master&#8217;s degree in Secondary Guidance and Counseling or related field. * Knowledge, skill, and understanding in best practices as it relates to career and college readiness and personal/social counseling. * Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational and follow through skills. Ability to understand and use academic data to drive decisions for school and students. * Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and multidisciplinary team members to meet the needs of students. * Ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand proper reporting procedures. * Computer/technology proficiency. Preferred Qualifications: * Secondary counseling experience. * Previous teaching, counseling, or related experience in the public school setting. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a State of Minnesota Secondary Guidance and/or Counseling licensure.
  • Master’s degree in Secondary Guidance and Counseling or related field.
  • Knowledge, skill, and understanding in best practices as it relates to career and college readiness and personal/social counseling.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, organizational and follow through skills. Ability to understand and use academic data to drive decisions for school and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and multidisciplinary team members to meet the needs of students.
  • Ability to work effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
