Hiawatha Employment Logistics

  • Hiawatha Academies elementary students’ school day is from 7:10 am-3:00 pm, Monday-Thursday and 7:10 am-1:15 pm on Friday.

  • Teachers must be present from 7:00 am-3:15 pm, Monday-Friday.

  • Professional development sessions are held each Friday from 1:45 pm-3:15 pm.

  • All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in all family events at the school.


Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minnesota teaching license (current or pending)
  • A track record of measurable success with students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with colleagues, students, and families
  • Growth mindset for students, self, and other adults
  • Awareness of self and the ability to understand, appreciate, and interact within different cultural contexts
  • A commitment to racial equity and social justice
  • Desire to grow and develop in a fast-paced environment



Highly Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience teaching in a high-need school with demonstrated student results
  • Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish and/or Somali)
