Lionsgate Academy expanded and added the Shoreview campus at the beginning of the 2018/19 school year with grades 7-10 and is now adding grade 11 and 12 the following year. POSITION TITLE: Special Educational Assistant/Paraprofessional POSITION STATUS: Non-exempt FUNCTIONAL SUPERVISOR: Special Education Coordinator SCHEDULE: Monday &#8211; Friday, 7:30 am &#8211; 4:00 pm DUTY DAYS: 182 ____________________________________________________________________________ POSITION PURPOSE: To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefits for students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Collaborate with case managers, classroom teams, and support services to ensure student needs are being met. Assist in the planning and implementation of the students&#8217; daily programs under the direction of the Supervisor, case manager, and classroom teacher. Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment including-but-not-limited-to preparing needed materials and supplies for your assigned student or classroom. Observe, record, and collect data on behavior and specific IEP goals. Assist in student organizational needs. Support student sensory regulation needs. Participate in staff meetings, training programs and/or conferences designed to promote professional development. Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff and student families. Maintain and use positive, professional written communication with all individuals. Supervise activities on and off campus to ensure safety. Assist students in areas of daily living; such as toileting and/or feeding. Transporting students in school vehicle, often navigating unfamiliar routes. Regular, prompt attendance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting (20 pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of twenty pounds with assistance), and crouching during the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. MENTAL DEMANDS: The mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to comprehend and follow instructions, perform complex or varied tasks, relate to others, make decisions, and communicate effectively orally and in written form. Valid driver's license/ability to transport students via school vehicle (must have 3 or less moving violations in the last three years and no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 year degree or a minimum of 60 college credits OR successful completion of the ParaPro exam.
