Preparation and commitment to working effectively with diverse communities of learners; skill in providing for the individual learning needs of students; ability to create positive, inclusive learning environment; skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches; ability to organize and plan for student learning; familiarity with current teaching/ learning theories; skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse groups of students parents, and colleagues; diversity of interests and experiences. Qualifications for and willingness to work with extracurricular activities. Additional requirements: Standard English language proficiency in speaking and writing required. Standard Mandarin Chinese proficiency in speaking and writing required. Must know Pinyin system. A portion of the teaching assignment includes instruction of College in the Schools concurrent enrollment courses at the high school level. For those courses, the following will be required: * 3 years of secondary teaching experience with some experience teaching advanced levels of Chinese at the high school level * Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese (at least Advanced-mid or higher based on ACTFL standards) * Graduate degree in the field(s) of Chinese, Chinese language instruction, or second language acquisition OR graduate degree in any field plus 18 graduate credit hours in Chinese, Chinese language instruction, or second language acquisition Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with International Baccalaureate (IB) middle years programme (MYP) and experience in immersion education preferred, but not required.
