Position: SPA currently seeks a part-time (.60 -.70 FTE) Lower School Music and Movement Teacher- long-term substitute for a leave replacement position. Position Begins: beginning April 2020 through June 2020. Status: Part-time, Exempt (long term leave replacement position) Department: Instructional, Lower School (grades K-5) Job Description: Successful candidates will exhibit the capacity to create developmentally appropriate, interdisciplinary curricula, to maintain a nurturing and engaging classroom environment for students, to work collaboratively with a teaching partner, various colleagues, and parents/guardians, and to produce and direct student performances. In addition, excellent written and oral communication skills, a demonstrated love for teaching young children, a passion for personal expression, and active participation in the arts are essential to success in this position. Preference will be given to candidates who possess Orff Schulwerk training (minimum Level 1), instrumental proficiency (guitar, piano, recorder), the ability to execute movement instruction, and/or Responsive Classroom training. All candidates are expected to carry out the mission of SPA, "Shaping the minds and hearts of the people who will change the world," to support the vision of the Lower School and to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom. Required skills: Bachelor&#8217;s degree required.
