Tonka Online is Minnetonka Public School&#8217;s online learning platform that blends the academic rigor of our traditional programs with the flexibility and accessibility of online learning. Teaching this AP course will focus on delivering a high quality learning experience that prepares students for continued advancement in rigorous science courses and success on the AP Physics C Mechanics Exam. Students taking this course have previously completed an introductory Physics course; often AP Physics 1. Some onsite labs are required. Job Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Deliver online lessons, using District approved instructional materials adapted to an online learning environment. 2. Promote student success through clear expectations, prompt responses, and regular feedback. 3. Utilize and incorporate strategies to encourage active learning, application, interaction, participation, and collaboration in the online environment. 4. Evaluate students&#8217; academic growth and keep appropriate records. 5. Demonstrate competency in using data from assessments and other data sources to adjust instruction. 6. Communicate as needed with parents by means of Schoology messages, phone calls, emails, and/or virtual or in person conferences, etc. 7. Work in a supportive and collaborative manner with Tonka Online Coordinator and supervisors. 8. Demonstrate competence in implementing assessments in online learning environments in ways that ensure validity and reliability of the instruments and procedures. 9. Participate in professional learning in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices in an online learning environment. 10. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. Training and Experience 1. Background with Schoology is preferred. 2. AP training is preferred but not required. 3. Prior experience teaching AP courses. Knowledge and Skills: 1. Strong calculus backgrund with the ability to apply calculus principles to physics concepts. 2. Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines. 3. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology. 4. Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community. 5. Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations. 6. Show initiative and function as a self-starter. 7. Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Compensation: The teacher will be paid at the per pupil rate of $225.
