Venture Academy is seeking part-time special education teachers for the current school year! (0.10 FTE) About Venture Academy Venture Academy&#8217;s mission is to build entrepreneurs by developing the independence, scholarship, and leadership of young people. Venture Academy serves 350 students in grades 6-12. Venture Academy opened in 2013 and is located right off the Green Line in Minneapolis. Our model prepares young people for college, career and life through personalized, project-based and experiential learning. As we grow, we seek dedicated, innovative, and fun educators to join our team! We&#8217;re not your typical school. Venture team members demonstrate: * Agility: can adapt and personalize teaching approach to meet individual needs using feedback and data * Results: show evidence of success with underserved learners, and especially English language learners * Expectations: have a sense of urgency, the ability to motivate young people and a warm demeanor * Enthusiasm: display vision, leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, positivity and excitement * Experience: address the behavior needs of underserved learners * Solutions-oriented: identify and solve problems, take risks, and try new approaches * Teamwork: work well in and help lead a team using authentic communication * Versatility: bring strengths and passions across multiple content and specialty areas Responsibilities * Provide direct instruction to students in a positive, full-inclusion environment * Teach students about word working, carpentry and licensing law. * Build students project development and management skills. * Build students carpentry skills * Develop a self directed learning enrvironment * Manage a workshop space and materials Requirements * Valid MN teaching license in Construction * Bechelors degree or higher * Experience with workshop tools and materials * Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Friday.
