Benefit: Benefits Include Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, Flexible Spending, and Retirement &#183; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: &#183; &#183; 2 years of experience working with children diverse ethnic background in an urban school setting. &#183; HCPA preferred candidates who can speak Hmong or Karen language &#183; Ability to assist with development of reading, math, and writing skills &#183; Good written and oral communication &#183; Performs other duties as assigned by classroom teacher or appropriate administrator. &#183; Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to work effectively with students, parents, district staff and community members from diverse backgrounds. &#183; Excellent organizational skills. &#183; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and writing. &#183; Responsibilities: Instructional Support &#183; Under the supervision of a licensed teacher; provide instruction to students regarding study skills, reading decoding, reading for a purpose, math strategies, instruction for student to understand and use math facts, science, social studies, etc.. &#183; Tutor and assist students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities. &#183; Tutor and assist students individually or in small groups to master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by classroom teacher. &#183; Use the Lesson Plan Formats developed by licensed teachers to implement instructional support; present lessons to large groups to enable classroom teacher to work with small group, etc. &#183; Use information provided during professional development and training sessions (when applicable) to strengthen instruction by incorporating appropriate strategies in group activities under the direction of the classroom teacher. &#183; Include instructional strategies taught by licensed teachers to focus on learning needs of HCPA students in daily classroom support and activities. &#183; Perform hall monitoring, bus duties and lunch room monitoring duties &#183; Assist in school events, activities, and sport program, and school functions &#183; Assume other requirements deemed necessary by the supervisor or his/her designee. &#183; Meet on a regular basis with teachers and/or other professionals to plan and/or review the day's activities and needs of the specific students &#183; Assist special education students in academic areas such as reading, writing or math. This includes implementing curriculum, adapting instructional strategies and materials according to the needs of the student. &#183; Work with students that may have learning challenges, behavioral issues and/or need physical support. It may be necessary to assist students with toileting, eating, transitioning to classes, lockers, lunch/recess, buses, physical transfers and other activities of daily living. &#183; Implements Behavior Intervention Plans for students with disabilities &#183; Implement behavior management strategies during small group and individual instruction in order to support student engagement. &#183; Participates in staff development activities as directed by contract &#183; Build rapport and establish good relationships with students, parents, staff members and the community. &#183; Perform other related duties as assigned.
