Job Title: Elementary Teachers &#8211; 2020-2021 School Year, Sejong Academy We are looking for bilingual Korean-English classroom teachers for the 2020-2021 school year. The successful candidate will provide highly effective and high-quality instruction in an elementary classroom in a Korean immersion charter school. We have full immersion classrooms (Grades K-2) and partial immersion (Grades 3-6) positions available for the 2020-2021 school year. Essential Functions: Essential functions may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Teachers are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at the school on the specified days and hours. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: &#8226; Develop and maintain long-range and daily instructional plans in Korean based on Sejong Academy&#8217;s curricula that fosters thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving. &#8226; Provide effective, developmentally-appropriate and differentiated instruction for diverse learners in Korean. &#8226; Promote students' comprehension of and interaction in Korean and English. &#8226; Regularly assess student learning of subject content and language using multiple forms of assessment. &#8226; Promote cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy and self-control among students, as well as conflict resolution strategies. Establish developmentally-appropriate behavioral expectations for students. &#8226; Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices based on the students&#8217; needs and abilities &#8226; Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions. Promote family involvement to support student learning. &#8226; Work to meet all school wide goals in Academics and Social and Emotional learning &#8226; Attend Staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required &#8226; Meet Sejong Academy&#8217;s standards for performance and attendance. Minimum Qualifications: &#8226; Current MN K-6 or elementary teaching license with a Pre-K endorsement. &#8226; Proficiency in Korean at the advanced level or above, according to the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview. &#8226; Prior success with diverse urban learners is desirable. &#8226; Demonstrates continued professional development through coursework, action research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development. &#8226; Knowledge of the theoretical principles of second language acquisition, appropriate instructional methods of language instruction, instructional resources appropriate for elementary language instruction, appropriate assessment and evaluation of students&#8217; language acquisition. &#8226; Working knowledge of effective classroom management techniques and current researched best practices and strategies as well as students&#8217; learning styles and needs, both academic and affective. &#8226; Familiarity with/training in Responsive Classroom and Immersion teaching preferred.        Familiarity with/training in Responsive Classroom and Immersion teaching preferred.
