Convenient to both Minneapolis and Saint Paul, LILA is located close to the North Metro 35W-35E split. Job Summary: This position will oversee the intervention and evaluation process. You will conduct professional evaluations of students and assess and interpret intellectual, social and/or emotional development for students with a variety of educational needs. No case management! Opportunities exist to build other aspects of the job as you desire. This position reports to the Director of Special Education. Essential Functions: * Direct student assessment; interpret findings; write reports and oversee reports. * Plan and implement special education evaluations and reevaluations to determine if students are eligible for special education services. * Evaluate students to determine the presence of a disability; test, interview, observe, review records, interpret test data and results, conduct functional behavior assessments. * Write evaluation reports, attend IEP and other meetings and generate student plans. * Create interventions and data-based decision-making for social and emotional supports using pre-referrals and Response to Intervention protocols. * Consult with general education and special education personnel to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. * Participate in pre-referral activities with the child study team; attend or facilitate team meetings, gather and interpret data, develop pre-referral interventions, assist in implementing interventions. * Provide leadership and assistance to initiatives such as Response to Intervention, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Crisis Prevention Institute Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, AIMSweb data collection, etc. * Act as a consultant and provide training to staff, parents and students for mental health, social-emotional, learning or behavioral concerns at school. Required Qualifications: * Master's degree or higher in school or regular psychology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Must have a valid Minnesota School Psychologist license. Preferred Qualifications: * Language Immersion and/or International Baccalaureate experience preferred. * Spanish or Mandarin Chinese language proficiency helpful, but not a must. Physical Requirements: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, using hands to touch, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private office, conference room).
