This position would be classified as a teacher on special assignment. Multiple special education licensure is preferred, but people with single licensure are strongly encouraged to apply. The applicant must be highly organized, knowledgeable of all due process timelines and regulations, efficient at completing paperwork, and effective in communication with a variety of people. This person will be responsible for planning, organizing, and writing all K-12 special education re-evaluations as well as teaching and case management. The position may require other duties as assigned. Essential Functions -Conducts assessments and testing for the purpose of identifying the need for continued special education services. -Gathers information from staff regarding data for evaluations. -Coordinates and assists in developing Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students. -Provides quality individualized instruction in multiple areas -Serves as a case manager to a group of students and serves as a ready resource to students and parents to provide support that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management. -Consults with building staff on students with special education needs in order to prevent and address problems/issues. -Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings. -Assists in the orientation of new paraprofessionals and provides in-service training and guidance. -Assists teachers with scheduling paraprofessionals based on student needs.
