Job Summary Perform a variety of assigned tasks in the area of preparation and serving meals to students and staff in the school under established rules, policies and procedures. Job Functions * Assemble, prepare, bake, and serve food items according to child nutrition guidelines, standardized recipes and directions from the Director and Assistant Director of Nutrition Services. * Assume responsibilities of Cook Manager in his/her absence * Assist with ordering and inventory including checking and storing deliveries * Substitute as lead cashier as needed. Perform all cashier procedures from start up to day end * Plan, prepare and manage breakfast service * Assist with food preparation, service, cashiering, and production records * Wash dishes, pots and pans, and other items in dish room * Maintain a clean work area and handle food properly using procedures established in HACCP plans * Utilize safety measures as it pertains to use and operation of equipment in the kitchen including utensils, knives, and other equipment * Represent a positive public relations environment with customers * Attend education classes, training classes and or workshops as required * Other duties as assigned by Director or Assistant Director of Nutrition Services Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * High School Diploma or equivalent * Certified Food Manager preferred * Culinary degree preferred * Management experience preferred * Excellent customer service skills * Ability to work well with others * Experience with high volume, scratch food preparation and service * Knowledge and experience folllowing child nutrition guidelines * Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Internet navigation, food service specific software and Google applications * Demonstrated prompt, regular and reliable attendance Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stoop, lift, use hands for fingering, grasping and feeling, wrists, hands and/or fingers for repetitive motions.
