Job Description The Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Academic Program team in coordinating and developing special education evaluations. The Evaluation Coordinator will strive to ensure that all Hiawatha Academies scholars are empowered with the knowledge, character and leadership skills to graduate from college and serve the common good. The Evaluation Coordinator will work alongside the Academic Program team, and in close collaboration with the site-based Deans of Specialized Instruction, administrators, teachers, and advisors. The Evaluation Coordinator will work under the guidance of the School Psychologist. Responsibilities * Partner with schools to review prereferral intervention data and determine whether refer the child for an initial evaluation for Special Education * Collaborate with school staff and families to identify areas of need and develop evaluation plans * Administer components of evaluation that are conducted by a Special Education teacher, including background information, academic testing, and functional behavior assessments * Coordinate with related services providers contributing to student evaluations to ensure thorough and complete evaluations * Support school staff and leaders with interpreting evaluations and developing IEPs based on the evaluation findings * Complete final edit of evaluation reports, including ensuring alignment between the evaluation plan and with MDE evaluation standards * Support with building a culture of strong due process, including conducting periodic folder audits to ensure complete and accurate special education records * Support with Special Education reporting, including sending Tuition Agreements to students&#8217; residential districts Perform other duties as required and assigned The Evaluation Coordinator must demonstrate knowledge of and support Hiawatha Academies&#8217; mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior. Hiawatha Employment Logistics * This role is a member of the Network Support Team * The expected work week for all Hiawatha Academies staff members is 41.25 hours. The Evaluation Coordinator will set their individual schedule with the School Psychologist. * Regular presence at Hiawatha campuses will be required; must provide their own transportation. Skills & Qualifications Required: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree, and MN Teaching License in Special Education * Knowledge of Special Education law and Due Process compliance * Knowledge of writing and implementing IEPs and evaluations * Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with colleagues, students, and families * Explicit commitment to equitable mindsets and practices Highly Preferred: * Experience working with students with learning and emotional-behavioral needs, autism, and/or developmental cognitive disabilities * Preferred licenses in Academic/Behavioral Specialist, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and/or Developmental-Cognitive Disabilities * Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish and/or Somali preferred) Compensation Salary for this position is competitive and based on prior experience.
