They consult and collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals to create supportive learning and social environments for all students. The school psychologist or intern provides support in the identification, evaluation and implementation of programs and services for students with special needs. *A school psychologist intern will be supervised by and work under the direction of a licensed School Psychologist. Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Be licensed as a School Psychologist in the state of Minnesota, have the ability to become licensed in Minnesota, or be enrolled in and have at least three years completed in a training program approved by the National Association of School Psychologists and have the ability to receive a permanent or temporary license from the Minnesota Professional Educators Licensing and Ethics Board 2. Demonstrate skills within each of the ten domains of service outlined in the Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services. 3. Display good communication and organizational skills and demonstrate a cooperative and collaborative attitude 4. Maintain professional personal appearance 5. Show willingness to assist where needed and have the ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of people, including colleagues, students, parents, and community members Major Position Duties: 1. Direct and Indirect Services for Children, Families, and Schools * Student-Level Services * Early Intervention / Pre-Referral Activities * Screen, review records, and interpret findings * Consult with child study and problem solving teams to * Use data to determine appropriate evidence-based practices for use with specific students or in specific classrooms * Implement individualized interventions including instructional strategies, goal-setting, self-regulation strategies, and engagement strategies * Conduct informal child observations * Consult with children, parents and staff * Evaluation and Re-Evaluation * Administer, interpret and report the results of psychological, functional, behavioral, and educational tests * Select and evaluate assessment instruments and data gathering procedures * Gather and interpret necessary data using formal and informal procedures in areas of a child&#8217;s development such as: cognitive, perceptual, psychomotor, emotional, social, adaptive behavior, personality and vocational adjustment * Mental Health Services * Utilize systematic decision-making to consider antecedents, consequences, functions, and potential causes of behavioral difficulties * Provide a continuum of developmentally appropriate mental health services including * Individual and group counseling * Behavioral coaching * Classroom and school-wide social-emotional learning programs * Parent education and support * Develop and assist in the implementation of behavior change programs at the individual, classroom, and school-wide levels * Systems-Level Services * Participate on district- and school-level teams * Promote a respectful and supportive atmosphere for decision-making and collaboration * Participate in designing and implementing universal screening programs to identify students who are in need of additional intervention and support * Assist in designing and implementing progress monitoring systems for students receiving additional intervention and support * Preventive and Responsive Services * Participate in school crisis teams * Promote wellness and resilience by collaborating with other healthcare professionals and by accessing resources to address a wide variety of behavioral, learning, mental, and physical needs * Family-School Collaboration Services * Promote family, school, and community partnerships to enhance learning and mental health outcomes for students * Advocate for families and support parents in their involvement in school activities * Help create links between schools, families, and community providers and help coordinate services when programming for children involves multiple agencies 2.
