POSITION TITLE: Special Education Coordinator Position Summary As a member of the INDIGO Education team, the Special Education Coordinator/Instructional Coach will provide oversight to special education programs by supporting special education teachers within contracted schools. * Provide leadership for improving identified special education instructional practices using INDIGO&#8217;s instructional coaching model and quality special education programming planning tools. * Advise/oversee the special education teacher in the development of IEP, evaluation, and progress reports with an emphasis on interpreting data from multiple sources and systematically designing instruction toward specific learning goals. * Provide mentorship to empower the special education teacher&#8217;s skill set in implementing effective special education instructional practices. * Maintain effective communication with school administration, teaching staff, parents, and related service providers. * Provide insight and data to school administration regarding the needs of individual students and the special education department at large. * Contribute to improving instruction within the school by communicating strategies, interventions, and other programming ideas with school staff. * Other duties as assigned by the INDIGO Education Executive Director. The Special Education Coordinator shall be selected based on the following guidelines relating to experience, knowledge, characteristics, and abilities: * Current Minnesota teaching license in one or more areas of special education * Minimum of five years of teaching students with disabilities. * Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills. * Knowledge and understanding of Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards, learning theory and practice, curriculum, interventions, and programming. * Demonstrate the ability to organize and synthesize verbal and written data. * Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and respond to needs across multiple settings * Exhibit the ability to work both independently and within a group structure * Resolve conflict with keen problem-solving skills * Maintain a professional demeanor in difficult and/or emotional situations * Appreciate diversity and strive for cultural competency * Respect school choice options * Demonstrate organizational skills for tracking various student data (MARSS, MCA, timelines, etc.) * Articulately summarize special education programs' needs, concerns, and strengths when communicating with the Director of Special Education and school administration. * Respond quickly to a variety of stakeholder requests * Work cooperatively and effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment with various staff and related service providers.
