These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals. JOB SUMMARY: * Develop and demonstrate culturally responsive practices that lead to equitable outcomes for all students, particularly those groups of students that are over-represented in special education. * Conducts speech, language and hearing screenings. * Demonstrate current knowledge of instructional best practices and methodology for speech/language services. * Promote and develop strong communication and collaboration with staff, parents and other professionals. * Conducts comprehensive evaluation of student's speech and language functioning. * Collaborate with others to plan, teach and support students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. * Plans and uses evidence-based interventions appropriate for individual students and groups of students. * Advocate for students with disabilities to ensure high levels of achievement. * Adjusts intervention strategies based upon student performance. * Completes procedural documentation appropriately. * Other job duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: * Licensed by the Minnesota Department of Education as Speech Language Pathologist. * The desired candidate will have their Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) but not required. * Evidence of a growth mindset and ability to accelerate growth in communication skills using a strengths-based model. * Ability to work efficiently, effectively, and cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Ability to relate positively to students, staff, and community. * Experience working in a school setting or with children ages birth through 21 * Ability to follow directions and procedures and facilitate collaborative teaming around students. * Ability to facilitate, write and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans. * Ability to collaborate with nursing staff to support and perform the necessary delegated health tasks. * Knowledge of best practices in the field of special education and implementation strategies for sensory activities, positive behavior support, academic instruction, development of routines, etc. * Understanding and ability to conduct evaluation to determine if a student is eligible for services. * Understanding of and ability to identify appropriate augmentative or alternative communication systems for students. * Ability to train teams in the implementation and use of augmentative or alternative communication systems for students. * Thorough understanding of the laws, rules and regulations of special education. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. * Ability to travel between locations.
