Description: School Social Worker (0.5-1.0 FTE) We are currently seeking a School Social Worker to be the link between school, home and community to provide direct and indirect services to students, families and colleagues that promote student&#8217;s academic and social success. This position includes many areas of support services and is a critical member of the student support team. We seek innovative candidates who find excitement in designing and conducting hands-on activities, student work/project showcases, and bringing their personal life experience into the school setting. Duties and Qualifications: * Valid Minnesota School Social Worker license or equivalent, willing to consider applicants completing coursework in the field * Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact community, parents, students, and staff. * Guide students in the creation of a respectful, non-bias school culture. * Seek to expand working opportunities with colleagues. * Accompany students on field trips, plan activities for Community Days, and participate in clubs and after school events. * Maintain accurate data for goal setting and record keeping. Create and maintain accountability for social work services provided. * Build relationships with parents through consistent communication. Direct Student Services: * Crisis intervention and mental health screening * Emotion regulation support and skill development * Participate in IEP meetings and special education evaluation process * Work collaboratively to define IEP social and emotional goals and objectives * Provide social work related services to individuals and groups as designated on IEP. * Complete progress notes as needed for IEP * Participate on Child Study Team * Collaborate with staff to develop positive behavior interventions / behavior plans * Serves as a mandated reporter Direct Family Services: * Assist parents in accessing and utilizing community resources * Parent Education (topics could include: child/adolescent development, disability specific, social emotional learning, etc) * Link families who are homeless or highly mobile to services and coordinate with service providers Service to School Community: * Provide professional development training (topics could include: mental health early warning signs, suicide prevention, mandated reporting, etc) * Advocate for student needs with staff, parents and community providers * Support an inclusive, welcoming and positive school culture * Collaborate with community service providers to align continuation of care * Facilitate restorative practices with individuals and groups * Collaborate with staff to evaluate and refine school-wide behavior expectation program Services to Staff: * Consult with staff to develop positive behavior interventions / behavior plans * Provide in-service training (topics could include: mental health diagnosis specific education and related accommodation strategies, child abuse and reporting, social emotional learning, etc) * Provide staff with relevant information (cultural, economic, familial, health) that may affect student&#8217;s behavior and performance * Convene/consult/collaborate with child study team * Provide support for staff Compensation: $51,000+ To Apply: Send a letter of interest, resume, current licensure/certification, and references (list or letter) to: opportunities@umissacademy.org<mailto:opportunities@umissacademy.org> Position is open until filled.
