Saint John's Prep invites applications for the full-time, benefit eligible position of Middle School Art Teacher. Since its founding in 1857, Saint John&#8217;s Preparatory School has provided exceptional education in the Catholic Benedictine tradition. Saint John's Preparatory School is a Catholic/Benedictine, co-educational, day and boarding college preparatory school for students in grades 6-12, with boarding options beginning in the 9th grade. Saint John's Prep is located on the 3,000 acres of woods and lakes of Saint John's University's campus in central Minnesota. Prep has continuously dedicated itself to both educational development and personal formation. Benedictine education calls for a lively interplay between rigorous thinking and the development of practices for a purpose-filled life. Under the supervision of the Principal and Assistant Head of School, this position is responsible for teaching in a dynamic middle school program where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Saint John&#8217;s Preparatory policies. Responsibilities: 1. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. 2. Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks. 3. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. 4. Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, projects and papers in a timely manner. 5. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records on a daily basis. 6. Act as an advisee to student organizations. 7. Attend and plan numerous field trips. One includes two days and one night away from the school. 8. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. 9. Keep abreast of developments in chosen field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. 10. Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues. 11. Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues. 12. Participate in campus and community events. 13. Perform administrative duties such as serving as department head or division chair when invited. 14. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate core content areas into art instruction. 15. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor&#8217;s Degree or higher with certification in area of teaching. 2. K-12 Visual Arts teaching license, or willing to obtain. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1. Strong personal computing skills in word processing; database creation and maintenance; spreadsheet design and manipulation; and email. 2. Strong organizational and communication skills. 3. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow through on projects and tasks. 4. Strong understanding of an integrated middle school model. 5. Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
