EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Behavior Interventionist/
Art & Science Academy (ASA), a public charter school district with two schools (grades K-4 and 5-8), is seeking a Behavior Interventionist/ Paraprofessional to begin immediately. This position is 6.5 hours per day, 170 days per school year with benefits. Additional hours/days may be available. Position will remain open until filled.
Duties include, but not limited to:
The Behavior Interventionist will help set expectations, monitor behaviors and support staff in serving students on a daily basis. The Behavior Interventionist/Paraprofessionals may work in every classroom and are critical to the program’s success. Paraprofessionals will receive ongoing training and will work as part of a teaching team.
Ideal candidates for this position will enjoy working with students of all ages in an innovative, supportive and dynamic educational setting and will enjoy working collaboratively with others daily.
However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the job. They are employed when required to implement special education or related services for a class and/or to provide direct assistance to students. Their duties will vary depending upon the age of students served as well as the nature and severity of the student’s disabilities.
Responsible for monitoring, tracking and communicating behaviors/trends/consequences.
Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the case manager and classroom teachers.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists.
Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
Keep classroom/office area clutter free, clean, organized, and inviting to visitors
Must be positive and optimistic when greeting all parents and visitors
Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements:
Two years of college credits; or an associate’s degree or higher, or a passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment (such as ParaPro Exam) demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing, mathematics or readiness for each.

Art & Science Academy is located in Isanti, Minnesota. Isanti is 45 minutes north of Minneapolis-St. Paul and offers a small town feel with nearby big city amenities. ASA opened its doors in 2014 with a single K-6 school that served 160 students, and now serves almost 350 students in grades K-8 on two campuses (K-4 and 5-8).
