Job Description Summary: supervise transportation department, supervise all bus drivers, creating and coordinating bus routes, coordinating extracurricular transportation, sub driving, route and trip coverage, communicating with transportation staff, school staff, and parents, etc. Candidates will be expected to posess or obtain a license with a school bus passenger endorsment. A successful candidate will have the ability to do the following: * Plan, manage and direct the district's transportation services effectively and efficiently, assuring that students are safely transported to and from school * Recruit, interview and recommend the hiring of route and trip drivers to the Superintendent of Schools * Train, supervise daily operation and conduct evaluations of all transportation staff * Assign drivers to daily routes * Assign drivers to extracurricular activity trips * Secure substitute drivers to fill in as needed * Arrange for substitute drivers and assign as needed * * Assure all drivers are in compliance with regulations and have met all licensing requirements * Schedule and plan bus driver training prior to school year * Schedule and conduct bus safety training * Administer all busing needs for special needs students. Provide for driver training, special equipment and reporting requirements. * Administer all busing needs for pre school students.
