Job Summary: Health Technician assists the District Nurse in providing first aid for sick or injured students, screening when appropriate and aides in programs that will ensure the standards of care throughout the district are met and meets with District Nurse regularly to discuss.

Duties/Responsibilities:
* Administers first aid to sick or injured students and staff according to the guidelines set forth by the school district and under the direction of the district nurse and/or established treatment plans
* Follows guidelines in deciding if a student should be sent home, parents contacted, ambulance called, student referred to district nurse, and/or if other professional help is required
* Responds to student/staff emergencies within their designated building and makes appropriate decisions in care
* Conducts basic vital signs, hearing and vision screenings for students
* Updates student health records yearly or as needed
* Prepares accident reports for any injuries requiring attention.
* Maintain inventory and order all necessary supplies needed for the health office
* Administers medication with approval of parent/guardian or doctor and under the delegation of the district nurse
* Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
* High School diploma.
* CPR and first aid certification preferred.
* This position does require traveling between school district buildings.
* Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills effectively.
* Additional health related certification and/or license preferred but not required (ex: EMT certification LPN, CMA)
Physical Job Requirements:
* Employee is continuously required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk, and hear; frequently sits, stoops, kneels and/or crouches, reach with hands and arms in the performance of the job. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
