Position: Technology Coordinator/Director

Salary Range: $65,000-$85,000 with competitive benefits.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Technology Coordinator/Director is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the operations and personnel of the department engaged in the development, deployment, maintenance, security, staff training, support and upgrade of the District’s technology infrastructure, hardware, software, and applications. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and supervises the daily operations and staff of the technology department.    

    • Plans, organizes, and directs the implementation of both small and large IT initiatives in accordance with district goals. 

    • Plans, formulates and develops the long range and short-range strategic technology plan for the district in accordance with state mandate. 

    • Collaborates and works with district administrators, staff, and users of technology in assessing needs, planning and identifying technology requirements of the district.

    • Helps plan staff technology training and development as part of the Staff Development committee. 

  • Work with the DAC for successful state testing and student benchmarking

  • Manages, deploys, monitors, maintains, develops, updates and supports all IT systems including:

    • Google domain/email administration

    • Servers, server backups, network switches, WiFi Access Points

    • Mac and PC/Windows laptops, Chromebooks and software applications

    • Mac, Windows and Chrome operating systems

    • Phone and Voicemail Systems

  • Oversees, manages and implements strategic technology plans, infrastructure plans initiatives and ongoing projects. 

  • Confers with and collaborates with outside agencies (e.g. Resource Training and Solutions Technology Group, Skyward conference) in delivering technology services to the District.

  • Oversees and administers the budget for technology and technology services. 

  • Oversees and manages the District Print and Copy Operations, 

  • Oversees and manages the District Student Information: Skyward

  • Oversees and manages the district electronic lock security systems 

  • Oversees and manages support for security camera coverage and camera clarity/quality. 

  • Develops methods to best utilize the system for crisis situations/management. Provides maintenance to system cameras and maintains system software packages. 


Knowledge of:

  • Network operating systems and network management tools, servers and equipment (Google Admin Console, Active Directory, routers, servers, switches, firewalls, workstations, laptops and various computer operating systems). 

  • Computer operating systems, Google Workspace Apps

  • Technology hardware and software, network management concepts and protocols, tools and equipment including telecommunications (voice/data). 

  • Supervisory and management fundamentals and principles. 

  • District general administrative policies and procedures (i.e. purchasing, accounting, documentation, HR, budgeting.) 

  • K-12 educational operations, mandates, and best practices for integrating technology to enhance school programs and operations. 

  • The design, installation and development of data networks. 

  • Network system security, disaster recovery and backup/storage systems and procedures. Fundamentals of user training program development. 

  • Principles of network administration in a multi-server environment.

  • Methods and practices of designing, installing, repairing, troubleshooting and upgrading network systems.

  • Principles and practices involved in installing networking applications software.


Skilled In:

  • Delegating, supervising, planning and prioritizing the daily activities of technology personnel.

  • Conducting needs assessments of technology support, training, overseeing the delivery of staff training and support.

  • Managing, implementing and assisting district staff in the troubleshooting of network systems, telecommunications, security, web services, email, voicemail, and enterprise systems. 

  • Planning, coordinating and implementing district technology plans, projects and programs.

  • Consulting with, advising, and collaborating with the district technology committee and staff concerning issues, objectives, goals and strategies for the integration of technology throughout the district. 

  • Planning and preparing technology budgets and overseeing the purchasing of all district technology.

  • Developing technology plans, projects and procedures including disaster recovery procedures, the design of security procedures, department documentation processes.

  • Communication and presentational skills to train staff, to prepare reports, and to collaborate with all levels of district staff in the planning, integration and support of technology throughout the district.


Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking or closely related area)

OR

  • Associates Degree and 2 years or relevant experience
