Title - Technology Support/Media Para

Location - Hinckley Elementary School

Immediate Supervisor’s Title – Technology Coordinator, Elementary School Principal

Job Summary:

The Tech Support/Media Para is responsible for providing first level support, maintenance and installation of district computers, software, hardware and computer peripheral equipment. This position is responsible for providing technology support for both building and district level users. This position must be proficient in a multi-platform environment, including Apple, Windows and iPad.

Technology Responsibilities

Responsibilities include support for classroom teacher hardware and software, support of computer troubleshooting, and support of all district goals and initiatives.

  • Setup and install new computers as needed

  • Perform routine maintenance on computer labs,iPads, phones, workstations, and printers

  • Maintain a database of computer repairs and parts replacement

  • Install and update software as needed on all types of devices

  • Provide assistance and answer questions for staff and students

  • Undergo related training

  • Responds to individual service requests on-site as scheduled and organizes with the district application help desk in order to deliver structured support services.

  • System Updates

    • Add/Drop new students to Active Directory - Email

Provide support for software applications including: Google Apps for Education (Drive, Google Sites, Gmail), Promethean software, teacher webpages, mimio, phones, and other building specific software.

Building Responsibilities

  • SAC-Student Assessment Coordinator for MCA Testing

    • Set up rosters and lists

    • Assist scheduling for testing

    • Set up computers for testing

    • Proctor training for teachers and paras

    • Primary Link between teacher and SCRED

    • Attend relevant meetings within District and SCRED

    • aFast, aReading, Automaticity, GOM testing,   (Fall, Winter, Spring)

    • Measurement Committee

    • Entering data in edSpring

    • Handling of iPad money and writing receipts

    • Proctor Tests

  • Extra Building Responsibilities

    • Jag Academy

    • HS-After school extra curricular

    • Book Fair

    • Open House

    • Ordering materials when asked by coordinator

    • Back Pack Food for Kids

Media Center Duties

Help in the media center as needed when time allows.

Monitors check out of AV Equipment and digital cameras to teachers.


Contact with teachers and principal to answer questions and/or locate materials.

Daily contact with students to answer questions and/or locate materials.

Equipment Operation

Audio-visual equipment; computer, projectors, iPads, laptops, iTV, Promethean, Mimio, iPods, phones, etc.

Notes: This position is primarily located at the Hinckley Elementary School. However, there may be times when the person in this position will be asked to visit the High School media center for work and/or training.
