Director of Facilities - Intermediate District 287

Salary Range:   $95,000 - $120,000 DOE &E

Start Date:   July 2017

Work Week:   40 Hours per week

This class is accountable for managing and directing the facilities management, operations, and maintenance programs of the District’s owned and leased buildings, including health and safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs.


Requires eight (8) years technical experience in the maintenance and repair of large buildings and utility services. Preferred Certifications include Certified Facilities Management (CFM) and/or Facilities Management Associate (FMA).

Special Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in a managerial capacity in leasing, acquisition or management of property with responsibility for the direction of trades workers, contractors and maintenance staff.

Substitution Allowed: College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor’s degree.

Character Assessment: In addition to the checking of references and facts stated in the application, a thorough background investigation of each candidate will be made prior to appointment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, to include member district representatives, administrators, subordinates, contractors, instructional staff, and has a sharp awareness as to how the facilities division integrates and affects other district departments and divisions.
