Language Arts and Special Education Team Teacher - St. Croix Preparatory Academy

Reading/Language Arts/SpEd - Team Teaching Position - St. Croix Preparatory Academy 

Starting in 2017-18 school year, this new position is 1.0 FTE: 

Teaching assignment includes:

·      Team-teaching LA/Reading sections in Grades 5-8 in collaboration with Language Arts Teachers.  Grade level assignment will be based on experience and licensure.

·      Schedule may be combined with Pull-Out content classes for small group or individual special education students based on experience and licensure.  

Required Qualifications:  Will consider any of the following licensure combinations:

·      Candidate will need to apply for variance for special education licensure or already be licensed for Special Education. Preference given to candidates already enrolled in a Special Education licensure program or willing to enroll in licensure program for Special Education.  

·      K-6 with a 5-8 Language Arts Concentration

·      5-12 Language Arts MN License

·      K-12 Reading MN License

·      We will consider out of state candidates able to qualify for a MN teaching license.  

Preferred but not Required Qualifications:

·      Previous experience teaching Language Arts or Reading in middle school.

·      Previous experience working with Title 1 or Special Education students.  

Experience with,

·      A classical model of education or a liberal arts college education.

·      Team teaching model and strong collaboration skills in lesson planning and lesson delivery, grading and assessment.

·      Holt McDougal textbooks and online curriculum.

·      MCA Test prep and text monitoring.

·      Implementation of Literacy Strategies across curriculum.

·      Paideia or Socratic Seminar/Discussion methods.

·      PLC groups/Q comp programs.

·      College preparatory rigor in a middle school setting.
