POSITION TITLE:   Special Educational Assistant / Job Coach
SUPERVISIOR: Special Education Coordinator
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
DUTY DAYS: 184 Per School Year

To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefits for students.
Collaborate with case managers, classroom teams, and support services to ensure student needs are being met
Assist in the planning and implementation of the students’ daily programs under the direction of the Supervisor, case manager, and classroom teacher
Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment including-but-not-limited-to preparing needed materials and supplies for your assigned student or classroom
Observe, record, and collect data on behavior and specific IEP goals
Assist in student organizational needs
Support student sensory regulation needs
Participate in staff meetings, training programs and/or conferences designed to promote professional development
Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff and student families
Maintain and use positive, professional written communication with all individuals
Supervise activities to ensure safety
Regular, prompt attendance
Lead small groups in educational activities
Support community based outings
Other job-related duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting (20 pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of twenty pounds with assistance), and crouching during the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

2 year degree or a minimum of 60 college credits OR successful completion of the ParaPro exam.
Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks.
Knowledge and experience working with students on the autism spectrum
One year previous experience in a middle school or high school setting
