Job Summary:
Watertown-Mayer School District is seeking a part-time Kindergarten Music Teacher.  This teacher will provide introductory music instruction (vocal, instrumental, etc.) to kindergarten students at Watertown-Mayer Primary School.  This position is approximately .42 FTE, with all instruction occuring in the afternoons.  

  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License in K-12 Music, required
  • Working knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques, developmentally appropriate practices in instruction and social/emotional development, and students' learning styles and needs.  
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to plan and work in a cooperative manner with colleagues, parents and students to integrate music with the curriculum and to foster an appreciation of music for students. 
  • Must have strong knowledge of comprehensive music standards and programming for young students.
  • Must understand developmentally appropriate teaching for kindergarten students and possess a desire to work with young students.
  • Ability and experience in organizing, planning, and implementing successful school performances.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and have high energy instruction and positive classroom management techniques.
  • Support and use of PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports), Responsive Classroom and/or Mindfulness strategies preferred.
