$13.40/hr?

The Watertown Mayer School District is located  24 miles west of Minneapolis.

The Watertown-Mayer School District #111  has an  immediate Behavioral/Academic Support -Paraprofessional  opening for the  2017-18 school year.
Specific School sites: Middle and High School.  
This is a full time position and is an excellent opportunity for an individual wishing to explore the area of Special Education, specifically aligned to working with, and supporting individual students who present complex neurobiological, social, emotional, behavioral personalities.


Position Focus:   The Academic/Behavior Support -Paraprofessional  fills a focused role in supporting, reinforcing, and advancing the educational experience of students with behavior disorders, such as attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHA), attention deficit disorder (ADD), emotional and complex social challenges.

The Academic/Behavioral Support -Paraprofessional will provide individualized assistance to students through one-on-one or small group activities in order to maximize their daily educational engagement. The Academic/Behavioral Support -Paraprofessional will be working closely with teachers, as they design and modify instructional designs 

Specific Duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Implement, track and record IEP goals, behavior support plans, crisis intervention techniques. 
  • Implement behavior support plans, crisis intervention techniques, and proactive/preventative techniques including physical management and positive reinforcement.
  • Provide supervision while actively engaging students.
  • Manage crisis according to established policies/procedures/guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate, collaborate and coordinate with team members.
  • Complete documentation according to procedures.
  • Maintain respect, dignity and confidentiality of students, staff and parents.
  • Be a positive role model to students and to fellow staff members.
Qualifications: 
Minimum qualifications: 
One of the following: 
-An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, or 
-Two years of post-secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) from an accredited institution of higher education which are applicable toward a bachelors degree, or 
-Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment AND either a high school diploma or GED.
- Life experiences, working with adolescents. .
