Hiawatha Leadership Academy-Morris Park (HLA-Morris Park) is a results-driven elementary school that is part of the growing Hiawatha Academies charter school network. HLA-Morris Park was our flagship elementary, founded in 2006. We currently serve Kindergarten through 4th grade.


HLA-Morris Park is currently seeking a hard-working, passionate, social- justice-oriented educator to join our team as a Paraprofessional for the 2016-2017 school year.


Job Description

We are looking for a highly qualified paraprofessional to join our school team. The primary responsibility of the individual in this role will be supporting students individually or in small groups with specific educational, social and emotional needs in the general education setting. This is a salar position including benefits.

Teachers must demonstrate knowledge and support of Hiawatha Academies’ mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior

Attend to and provide for students' daily hygiene and health related needs such as diaper changing, providing bathroom assistance, and helping feed students.

Hiawatha Employment Logistics

Hiawatha Leadership Academy – Morris Park students’ school day is from 7:10am-3:00pm, Monday-Thursday and 7:10am-1:15pm on Friday.

Teachers and paraprofessionals must be present from 7:00am-3:15pm, Monday-Friday.

Professional development sessions are held each Friday from 1:40pm-3:15pm.

All Hiawatha Staff are expected to attend and participate in all Family Events at the school.


Skills & Qualifications

Required:

• Minimum of two years college education or bachelor’s degree

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

• Ability to work with diverse student populations


Highly Preferred:

  • Knowledge of special education

  • Bilingual or multilingual

  • CPR and First Aid Certified

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certified




Compensation
