K-5 EL COACH (Teacher on Special Assignment)

Duties and responsibilities:
Work with EL TALS and consultant to create a rubric by which implementation of the ELD standards and associated tools and resources can be measured at each elementary EL site.  Collaborate with EL TALS to make data-driven decisions to prioritize elementary EL sites for professional  development in implementation of ELD standards and associated tools and resources.  Scope district elementary EL professional development based on need as identified by implementation rubric.  Peer Coach; provide principals, teachers and instructional coaches with supportive feedback on their implementation of effective EL strategies and practices including sheltered instruction, co-teaching, collaboration and WIDA standards.  Model instruction for teachers.  Communicate and coordinate school visits with principals and teachers.  Provide job-embedded professional development for teachers, including co-planning lessons, demonstration lessons, observation and feedback, co-teaching lessons and lesson study.  Meet regularly with EL TALS and K-12 Academic Achievement Director.  Co-plan, co-facilitate, and/or participate in collaborative teams, lead meetings, and district professional development days.  Competently perform the duties specified and any other related duties assigned by the administrators.

Minimum Qualifications:  Requires EL License.  Knowledge of and experience with sheltered instruction, co-teaching, and WIDA standards.  Minimum of five years successful teaching experiences working with EL students.  Must be flexible in daily schedule, and available before and after regular school day.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Knowledge, experience and expertise in conducting professional development sessions.  Attend additional trainings as needed.  Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, administrators, and teachers.  Ability to organize and manage time efficiently.
(Anoka-Hennepin will make every effort to hire teachers with full standard licenses in the assigned subject and grade level.)

Preferred Qualifications:  Knowledge, experience and expertise in peer coaching preferred.
