POSITION OPEN AT THE NORTHOME SCHOOL


Northome School is seeking applicants for the K-12 Principal position for the 2017-2018 School year. 


Northome School is located on a picturesque campus, with easy access to natural resources, including multiple school forests and a pond.  Located in the heart of the north woods, Northome offers convenient access to hunting, fishing, and snowmobile/ATV trails, and we are within a comfortable driving distance of Bemidji.

-Provides leadership in the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of a balanced educational program including all
support services and extra-curricular activities.
-Assumes overall responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of the performance of certified and classified personnel.
-Works cooperatively with all members of the administrative team in the planning, evaluation, reporting, and improvement of school
district programs and services.
-Responds to written, telephone and personal requests for information from students, staff, parents, business, and other school districts, 
including writing newspaper articles about the school as well as honor rolls, etc.
-Provides appropriate staff development programs at the building level, including necessary orientation for all new staff members.
-Fosters a climate of positive school-community relations, provides information to the community about school programs and involves 
the community and its resources in the educational program.
-Directs staffing for special education students.
-Manages day-to-day operations of the school to include:
            a)insuring maintenance of progress reports;
            b)supervises attendance and does quarterly attendance for 
            report cards.
            c)follows up on communications to student's homes;
            d)creates class schedules and lesson plans;
            e)coordinates building and grounds maintenance;
            f)hears complaints/grievances of students, staff, and parents.
            g)calls substitute staff and handles leave requests and paperwork.
-Keeps informed about current trends and practices in elementary/secondary education.
-Oversees the maintenance and operation of the school plant and the care and control of equipment and supplies.
-Keeps the Superintendent and other appropriate administrators informed of all major developments and needs that affect the 
educational program.
-Administers and coordinates all support services and programs in the building, including the supervision of personnel.
-Assumes overall responsibility for the development of the master schedule, yearly calendar, quarterly activity schedules and directs the registration and scheduling of all students.
