All HLA-Northrop staff are charged with creating a safe and welcoming learning environment in which all students can thrive. As educators, we are responsible for creating an environment which promotes a sense of belonging, significance and emotional safety for all students so they can focus on learning. We know that all students can meet high expectations for both learning and behavior when they receive the support they need to do so.

At HLA-Northrop we strongly believe in the use of restorative practices as opposed to punishments when students make mistakes or do not meet our community agreements.

We believe that when students are struggling to meet classroom expectations and having social-emotional challenges at school, they need the support of a team of compassionate adults who can assess the situation and provide student-centered, trauma-informed support structures to address the barriers to their success.
