POSITION AVAILABLE:   Special Education Paraprofessional (multiple positions available)
POSITION LOCATION:  SWWC Service Cooperative with placement at the Cosmos Learning Center, Cosmos, MN.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  The Special Education Paraprofessional provides assistance to children, teachers &/or mental health professional/practitioner in providing an appropriate, safe learning environment to students enrolled in special educational programs.  Some students may have challenging behaviors.  Duties may also include riding transportation van.
QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or GED required.  Must meet the requirements set forth in NCLB as listed below: 
  • A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the higher education institution, OR
  • An Associate’s (or higher) degree, i.e. AA, AS, AAS degree, OR
  • Passing score of 460 or more on the ParaPro Test
  • New paraprofessional who does not meet the requirements listed, must pass the ParaPro Test within three months of hire date;
  • Proof of Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certification; new paraprofessional must be certified within two weeks of hire date;
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Criminal background check will be conducted on successful applicant.
SALARY:  Paraprofessionals start at $14.41/hour and up, depending upon education, qualifications and experience. Paraprofessionals work 6 hours per day.
