Position Title:  School Health Specialist II

Assignment:  Related Services Department assigned to Columbia Heights School District    
Hours Per Day:  7.0     

Starting Pay:  $24.22 per hour + $5,500 annual stipend for LPN certification or $6,500 annual stipend for RN certification 
Job Summary: 

Provides necessary health care to students in the school setting, including first aid, medication administration, implementing care plans as directed by the Licensed School Nurse, attending meetings that involve health issues as assigned, maintaining records and communicates with health care professionals and families. Implements, monitors, and collects data and reports for health related programs and activities in the district. Monitors compliance of local, state, and federal health regulations.
*This job incorporates both RNs and LPNs. In all cases employees must operate within their scope of practice and licensure. 
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administers and documents medications and treatments to students based on parent and licensed prescriber authorization per school policy. Performs appropriate health care procedures as delegated.
  • Reinforces and encourages compliance with plan of care for students; reteaches and communicates health instructions and self care instructions to other staff supporting students.
  • Monitors and document immunization records per state health department; contacts health care providers and maintain records per district third party billing requirements.
  • Conducts student health screening and records the data under the direction of the Licensed School Nurse.
  • Monitors and implements preventive measures in communicable disease control for the program/site.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements: 
LPN license required. RN License preferred. Current in CPR.
